Montana Medicaid Plans (Passport and Healthy Montana Kids)
Montana Medicaid offers healthcare coverage through two main programs: the Passport to Health program and the Healthy Montana Kids (HMK) program. Most Medicaid-eligible residents are enrolled in the Passport program, which works with primary care providers to coordinate care. HMK covers children and teens through a combination of CHIP and Medicaid funding.
Managed Care Organizations (MCOs)
Montana does not use traditional risk-bearing MCOs like many other states. Instead, it contracts directly with providers and care coordination networks through:
- Passport to Health: A primary care case management model (administered by Conduent and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana)
- HMK: Administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana for eligible children
